What is SHiP All About?

SHiP, as a group in Second Life, focuses mainly on what we like to refer to as Scene Play. What that means is SHiP role-play consists primarily of self-contained stories. Imagine a story where you (portraying your favorite super hero/heroine) were captured and sold into slavery. It Seems pretty final, but in the context of SHiP play it's a self contained story. You enjoy the RP, and tomorrow you role-play as the same heroine. It lets players enjoy playing any character they want, in any sort of story they like, the overhead required to coordinate role-play with other players and maintain full-time story continuity on a sim. Many of the regulars at the sim play multiple characters as the mood strikes them. They're not limited to one character.

 

Comic Books Have Everything

Comic books are at the heart of the SHiP genre. Comic books have long mixed the elements of popular fiction, allowing them to tell stories without limiting themselves. Although the Mean Streets Sim is fictitious, urban setting, that's a superficial element. There are scenes for RP on exotic planets, high tech laboratories, dank sewers, forests, and even sinister dungeons.

 

Heroes and villains come from all manner of backgrounds and get their powers and abilities from any of a wide array of sources. Demons from the lower planes, exotic suits of armor, through science, enhanced soldiers - the variety of combinations is too long to list.

 

No matter what your interest, there is probably a way for it to be a story in the context of SHiP. Don't want to be a hero or heroine? Sinister villains kidnap innocent bystanders for nefarious purposes all the time. Think your interest is a bit too dark? There's a good chance that, with some investigation, you'll find someone who is willing to play the villain or hero in the story.

 

Who Can I Be?

We don't adhere to any sort of rules about who you can and can't be. There might be multiples of the same hero or heroine on the sim at any one time. Everyone has their favorite, be it one from a comic book or one they invented on their own. With the mix and match that is the heart of SHiP, you will see characters from different mediums involved in RP together all the time.

 

Do I have To.....?

Consensual RP is the name of the game. Granted, there are many stories that have non-consensual elements to them, but it's role-playing. Fiction. If you're getting harassed by another resident outside the boundaries of consensual role-play, report it to LL and inform us. Presence on the Mean Streets RP Sim does not imply consent.
